Dr. Rob Widdicombe is an Ecological Consultant who has been living in Kington since 2001. With considerable experience in ecological field work, arboriculture and nature conservation management since the early 1980s, Dr Widdicombe’s main areas of expertise lie in botany, birds, bats and the application of Geographic Information Systems to land and vegetation management.
In his role as a part-time lecturer at the University of Worcester and Pershore College, Dr. Widdicombe teaches ecology, tree biology and horticulture. He is also a Member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (MIEEM), a chartered member of the Society of Environmentalists (CEnv) and Professional Member of the Arboricultural Association (MArborA).
Current projects for Herefordshire County Council and Natural England involve acting in an advisory capacity on habitats and environmental impact assessment of developments for protected species. Dr Widdicombe will take the role of expert advisor to the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust on environmental issues.
Outside work Dr Widdicombe’s interests include horticuture (gardening, orchards), music (classical guitar, traditional folk violin and dance), historic vehicles, computers and, of course, natural history.
