It's A Mess For 1st Tenbury Scouts

1st Tenbury Scout Group has been celebrating in style by making great use out of its new ‘mess tent’ which they have been able to purchase following funding of £2,000 from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.

The Scout Group which has been going since the late 60’s is made up of 4 sections; Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, covering the age group of 5-18 year olds (both boys and girls).  Currently the troop stands at 60 children, and on average the Group gains approximately 10 new members a year.

Andrea Moore Chair of the Group commented “We are very privileged to have our own scout hut, but a result of this is that over the years a lot of the money has been put into maintaining it, and therefore we are now left with a lot of very old equipment, some of which can no longer be used due to health and safety reasons.”

“We decided to apply to the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust for funding as we wanted to purchase a ‘mess tent’ to be used for storage, cooking and eating.  We are extremely grateful to the Trust for providing the money as the new mess tent now provides a place for all the children to get together when out at camp (normally at least 6 times a year).”

John Garbutt, Chair of the Trust said “It is a great feeling when we are able to help so many children enjoy the great outdoors.  The life of this mess tent will be at least 25 years and with 60 members it should benefit a significant number of children over that time.”
