Pembridge Preschoolers Are Enjoying The Great Outdoors
Youngsters at Pembridge Preschool have been increasing their physical activity levels following funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.
The Preschool which has been running since 1990 currently has 20 children on roll and is open on Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s between 9.00am and 3.00pm. Sarah Jones from the Preschool commented “We had heard of the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust from funding previously provided to the local primary school, and decided to apply as we were in desperate need of outdoor equipment for the children to use.”
“We wanted to replace our old, broken ride on tractors and purchase ride on pedal bikes, push bikes and scooters as well as play garden equipment. We felt that this would enhance the children's physical development and make good use of our large outdoor area.”
The Kingspan Insulation Community Trust provided £1,000 to the Preschool which was used to purchase a variety of scooters, piggy back trikes, pedal bikes, a push bike, big tractors, scoot along tractors, as well as 3 lawn mowers and 2 strimmer’s.
John Garbutt Chairman of the Trust added “Encouraging physical activity in youngsters is extremely important, as what they learn at a very young age will stay with them in the future. The purchase of these new outdoor toys has made a big impact on the outdoor play and physical development of all children at Preschool, it has also enabled them to build confidence in skills such as scooting, pedalling, turn taking and role play gardening.”
