Great Teamwork Sees Local Schools Well Equipped

Youngsters from both secondary and primary schools in the Hereford area are the lucky recipients of rugby equipment thanks to funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.

An application was made to the Trust by Luctonians Youth Sport requesting funding to purchase rugby equipment that could be supplied to local schools and the club, allowing youngsters easier access to the sport.

Nick Byron of Luctonians said “At Luctonians we deliver a comprehensive coaching package to youngsters in the Herefordshire area and although we can go into the schools and show children how to do things, without them being able to practice once we have left, there is only so far they can progress.”

Over 300 balls have been supplied to a number of schools in the area such as Lady Hawkins High, Wigmore School and Shobdon and Kingsland Primary Schools along with two sets of post protectors for Luctonians Youth Sport.

Allen Brace Head of PE at Lady Hawkins High said “Rugby is practiced within the school both as a curricular and extra-curricular activity and by having this extra equipment we are able to provide the pupils with the opportunity to continue developing and improving their skills.”

John Garbutt, Chairman of the Trust said “It is expected that hundreds of youngsters will benefit from this particular funding and we are delighted to have been able to help. After all it certainly meets the criteria set out by the trust to improve the health and fitness of young people through recreation!”
