News and Projects that the Trust Has Funded
Wigmore School Tackle Sport
Students at Wigmore School are setting new standards in Rugby and Hockey thanks to a range of new sports equipment purchased following funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.
The schools successful application meant that over £2,000 could be spent on a variety of equipment for both sports, including tackle bags, wedges and tees for rugby along with new hockey sticks, two sets of goalkeeping kits and balls for hockey as well as 8 weeks with a qualified hockey coach.
James Sparey, PE teacher at Wigmore School said “As a result of the funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust, we have been able to purchase a wider range of better quality equipment, allowing us to extend the provision of hockey and rugby to the boys and girls, both curricular and extra-curricular.”
John Garbutt chairman of the Trust commented, “One of the aims of the Trust is to improve the health and fitness of young people in the area through healthy recreation. This new equipment has improved the quality of the teaching and learning and will hopefully attract new pupils to both sports.”
