News and Projects that the Trust Has Funded
Wigmore Students Stick With Hockey
Students at Wigmore High School are benefiting from new hockey equipment following £1,245 of funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust.
The School applied for a grant from the Community Trust for the equipment as it will help encourage healthy recreation amongst the students, and this falls in line with one of the four objectives set out by the Trust.
Dean Curtis, Senior Deputy Head at Wigmore said “Following the highly successful extra curricular hockey sessions the school has implemented following previous support from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust, we wanted to extend the hockey provision for both the girls and boys.”
He added “We have purchased a range of good quality hockey sticks, match and training balls as well as a junior and senior goalkeeping set. This new equipment has ensured the safety of the pupils and has helped improve the performance and motivation when playing hockey.”
John Garbutt, Chairman of the Trust commented “We are always happy to be able to support local schemes like this, and we are extremely delighted that this application follows on from a previous grant which clearly shows that by providing equipment for youngsters really does encourage them to take part in the sport.”
